MIKEY ESPINOSA – THE FOX PLAYS WITH GINKO

The fox, a majestic animal. They are even seen in Asian mythology,in East Asia you may have heard of Hui Jing of China, Kitsune of Japan or Kumiho of Korea who are known to be mischievous creatures that disguise themselves as women to seduce men.
They can also be seen as wise and benevolent but when I look at them I see mystery and elegance. I wanted to capture this in a painting, using dark blues to hint at mystery and pinks to add femininity (femininity according to modern standards at least!) I then added ginko leaves because its associated with nature and to me beauty! Their yellow tones in Autumn compliment the orange and red tones of a Fox’s fur.
I also wanted to add maybe a hint of sadness in the eyes, maybe because Fox’s can be associated with a lot of negativity, there may be a lot of hate or fear towards them but to me they are just beautiful creatures that don’t deserve all this negativity! Nevertheless I know there are Fox lovers out there too!
